Probably not many of us know that Lisbon was once called "Yankee Grove", or that thousands of people turned out for Sauerkraut Days annually. There was a rail system that kept commerce vibrant with buildings full of stores. Some of that memorabilia can still be found displayed on tables, shelves, drawers and videos. From newspaper clippings and obituaries, to uniforms, sports equipment and photographs of our predecessors, to paintings, books, cannons, dishes, school year books and personal letters from Lisbon residents, one can find a wealth of historical information here. |
