This facility is open to the public on Sunday afternoons from 1:00 - 5:00 PM from June 1st through August 31st annually. Appointments for groups to use the school may be made by calling the Linn County Conservation Office, or by requesting an educational program online. The fee for group use of the school is 50 cents per person ($10 minimum). Education staff will conduct the programs at the school program rate |

Located near Mount Vernon, this one-room school is believed to be the oldest standing brick schoolhouse in Iowa. School furnishings date from the late 1800s and early 1900s - with many of the original books, slates, lunch buckets and other materials donated by local area residents.
