MARCH 19 MOUNT VERNON WINTER FARMERS' MARKET WILL CHANGE LOCATION

MARCH 19 MOUNT VERNON WINTER FARMERS' MARKET WILL CHANGE LOCATION

TEMPORARY MOVE ALLOWS FOR ADDITIONAL VENDORS

On Saturday, March 19, 11 am-1 pm, the Mount Vernon Winter Farmers' Market will be held at the First Street Community Center (FSCC), 211 First Street East, Mount Vernon.

A scheduling glitch prompted the market's temporary move from its regular location at the Mount Vernon City Hall. Because FSCC is a larger venue, organizers said that new vendors from the market's waiting list will be able to participate on that day.

"We normally have 18-20 vendors at the winter market," said Mickey Miller, Mount Vernon Farmers' Market manager.  "We're expecting six additional vendors on March 19."

"So we'll have some new offerings, including two cupcake vendors, one of whom makes her baked goods using organic ingredients. We also have someone coming who does gluten-free and MSG-free dip and soup mixes." Miller also said that homemade bath products will be available.

"And of course we'll have all our regular offerings, like grass-fed Angus beef; pastured pork, beef and lamb; farm-fresh eggs; raw honey; loads of baked goods and locally made craft items.  We even hear that one of our vendors will be bringing limited quantities of fresh spinach and maybe even lettuce."

Miller also noted that FSCC has several antiques and gift shops that customers will also want to explore. "So customers should give themselves plenty of time to shop."
