What we are all about: First and foremost, we are committed to providing Community Service for the Mt. Vernon / Lisbon areas. Please join us in these worthwhile endeavors.
COMMUNITY SERVICE:
SE Linn Meals on Wheels: We are responsible for finding volunteers to deliver meals in Lisbon the second Sunday of every month.
Lisbon History Center BINGO night: We provide one volunteer the second Sunday of each month to help the History Center set-up and tear-down for their BINGO night.
Easter Egg Hunt: We host an annual Easter Egg Hunt at Washington Elementary in Mt. Vernon.
Smart Sitter Classes: We try to host an annual Babysitter Class for kids in the communities wishing to be a ‘certified babysitter’, teaching kids about babysitting, CPR, etc. The class is for kids 12 and over.
Mt. Vernon City Park Clean-Up:
We are responsible for finding volunteers to help clean up at city park for two twice a year – April and September.
Ann Krogmann Scholarship: The community club, along with Dave Krogmann, give out a ‘Community Service’ scholarship in memory of Ann Krogmann each year.
Sauerkraut Days Kids Care ID Kits: At Sauerkraut Days, we always provide volunteers to complete Kid Care ID kits for families who want them. We get pictures of the kids, height, weight, fingerprints and give the kit to the parents in case something every tragic happened.
Mt. Vernon Bank Santa Visit on Magical Night: We provide volunteers to bring cookies into the bank as well as provide people to monitor the cookie table throughout the night.
FUNDRAISING:
Spring Lisbon Middle School Dance / Fall Mt. Vernon Middle School Dance
Coordinate date with schools, hire DJ, provide chaperones, bring pop and food in for kids to buy.
Heritage Days Glow Necklace Sale
Purchase glow necklaces and glow balls to sell at the Thursday night kick-off for Heritage Days at Hillcrest Country Club.
Golf Tournament
Host an annual 9-hole golf tournament at Hillcrest Country Club. Organize tournament, find sponsors, seek donations from area businesses to give away as prizes, donate all proceeds to a local organization in need. (Ex. The first year all proceeds went to the Mt. Vernon/Lisbon Ambulance Crew, the second year went towards purchasing playground equipment at Memorial Park in Mt. Vernon, this year went to the Lisbon History Center for some building maintenance and a display case.)
SOCIAL NETWORKING:
Early Winter – Annual Progressive Dinner: This always draws a big crowd. We start with appetizers at one house, go to another house for the main course, and then end the night at a third house for appetizers.
Summer Family Potluck: We always try to do a summer picnic for the entire family! We’ve had this at Davis Park in the past, but may try to do something at Diggz volleyball courts next summer.
Fall Social: In the past, we’ve done hayrack rides and bonfire at Kroul farms, we’ve done hayrack rides and pumpkin carving at the Burkle and Louwagie homes. This year we’re doing a late summer bowling night to try to recruit new members and may still do some type of Halloween party this fall.
