Timothy Hankewich, until recently the resident conductor of the Kansas City Symphony and now director of the Cedar Rapids Symphony, will present the HAIG lecture on "Bridging the Gap: A Career Transition in Music from Student to Professional" at 11:30 a.m, Thursday, April 19 in Hedges Conference Room in the Commons at Cornell College.
This event is free and open to the public.
The realities demanded of one's profession can often differ from one's expectations upon leaving school. This lecture recounts how skills acquired in school had to be adapted to fit a vocation in music, and how flexibility and the ability to adapt become essential assets in the formation of a musical career.
