Main Street Visioning Session in Mount Vernon
One of the key elements in launching a successful Main Street program is the definition of a clear vision and identification of goals and objectives for each of the committees. Who better to set that course of action than the people who live and work in our communities? It is with this intent that Main Street consultants have scheduled a Mount Vernon Visioning session for April 30. The meeting will start at 6:00 p.m. and typically last for 2-3 hours.
Main Street consultants will go through a series of exercises that are guaranteed to stimulate some lively discussion and help shape a common vision for downtown!
We would like to have 30-45 participants representing a broad based group including city officials, the initial Main Street organizing committee, representatives from the Chamber, County, Economic Development organizations, property and business owners, and any other community residents who desire to be involved with the program.
To help us start thinking about these important topics, below are the basic elements of action plans:
Mission Statement - character of the community and what it envisions for the future
Goals - specific statements that can be clearly divided into a committee structure
Issues - problems or unmet opportunities
Objectives - specific statements of how a goal will be reached
Activities - specific projects that have an identified time frame
Tasks - specific steps required to complete an activity
Please clear your calendar for Wednesday, April 30th at 6:00 p.m.
